Fred J. Grattan
(1932-2005)
CEDAR FALLS — Fred J. Grattan, 73, of Cedar
Falls, died Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Cedar
Falls Health Care Center.
He was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Cedar Falls,
son of Leslie J. and Lily Mae Huskins
Grattan. He married Charlene F. Johnson Jan.
18, 1952, in Cedar Falls.
He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in
1950 and served in the Iowa National Guard
from 1951 to 1954. Mr. Grattan had been an
auto salesman in the metro area for more
than 40 years, retiring in 2000 from
Holdiman Motors. He then worked part time at
University Motors.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Rick
(Vickie) of Harrison, Ark., and Terry of
Dike; a daughter, Lori (Steve) Tiedt of
Denver; five grandchildren, Sarah (Matt)
Simmons of Everton, Ark., Jennifer (Ryan)
Winkle of Springfield, Mo., Eric (Dallas)
Grattan of Cedar Falls, and Mallory Tiedt
and Ben Tiedt, both of Denver; and a
great-granddaughter, Hattie Simmons of
Everton.
Preceded in death by: his parents.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
Richardson Funeral Home. Friends may call
from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home.
